Flaming Gorge Days Parade

I have never been cold at a parade in the summer, usually parades are a time to catch melted salt water taffy and sweat. But, there's a first time for everything, especially in Wyoming. Attending the Flaming Gorge Days Parade this year was a chilly experience. The kids were dressed like it was summer, but it felt more like early spring.

Dorothy and I drove over to Green River to watch the parade with the kids before she drove to Logan for the weekend. She ended up having to get Carter a coat from her car, he was that cold. Caleb didn't seem to mind as much, and clean house in the candy department.

Caleb waiting for the next float or elected official. Candy is always more plentiful and the best in an election year!

Carter ate Caleb's candy and shivered under Dorothy's coat.

Cali was a little too cool (literally and figuratively) to run in the road and get candy.

Someone came by and lai-ed Caleb, it made his day.

Caleb also chased a little android down the road until he gave him a hug.

Rarely a Good Idea

It is rarely a good idea to cut your own bangs, but sometimes I can't take my own advice. Sometimes, I think, "just a few more snips", and then I end up looking like this.

Baseball Double Rainbow

One afternoon while pulling into the baseball fields, Carter and I saw a double rainbow. It was so bright, so vivid, it started to look like a triple rainbow!

Carter had an awesome baseball season which started with him being picked to play on the Minor A Team, which means he got to skip the machine pitch league and head straight to the pitching league. He was the only eight year old on his team, and even though he was the youngest, he really held his own.

He loved every second of every game and was in every pitch all the time. He really loves baseball, and had some great coaches that helped him develop his skills this year. Two of his coaches didn't realize he was only eight until the end of the season picnic. They were truly impressed.

He's already looking forward to next season, and spends almost every afternoon practicing hitting and catching. He really wants to grow up and play for the Yankees, and I have a feeling, he can do it!

Kangaroo Zoo

While we were in Utah, we stayed the night at Grandma Vicki's and then headed to the Kangaroo Zoo in the morning. This place has more inflatable slides and bouncy houses than anywhere I've seen. On this morning we took Parker, Brock, and Kolby along for some bouncy fun.

Later, Neal, Gwen, Dory, Bethany, and Brock joined in the bouncing. The kids were so sweaty and so tired by the time lunch rolled around, almost everyone was crying.

There's also a shooting range where you can buy a bucket of balls and shoot them at you cousins.

Bethany and Brock had a great time, even though Brock had a come apart about wearing his socks. It was pretty hilarious, but some M&M's seemed to settle him right down.

A Fun Utah Trip to Utah: Gateway Children's Museum

In all the years we lived in Utah, we never made it to the Discovery Gateway Museum. We decided to take a little trip to SLC to do some fun things. We met Neal, Gwen, Dory, and Bethany and Brock. The kids played for hours, and the adults joked that we should have just dropped the kids off and went shopping. There was something for everyone, these pictures are just a few of the highlights from the many hours spent inside the museum.

Carter, Caleb, and Brock kept going back to the "struction worker" place where they got to load blocks and build things. We thought that we'd done all that there was to do at this location, but several hours later, they started building...again.

Caleb also really liked filling up a fire truck with gas. He has since jumped out of the car at that gas station on several occasions to "help" fill our car with gas.

The grocery store was a big hit too. Caleb stayed behind the cash registered and rang up groceries for a good long while. The other kids in the are didn't seem to mind, that he was hogging the grocery checker job.

Carter and Cali loved the green screen and the chance to be on TV as an anchor man and weather girl.

Outside on top of the roof, the kids were able to bring injured children from the Life Flight helicopter into a fully stocked Primary Children's hospital. Many lives were saved this afternoon.

Another visit to the grocery store, Cali enlisted this random child to help her re-stock shelves.

Carter did his part to keep the peace by dressing up as a cop and laying down the law around the town, he's so serious.

Really??

There is no reason that someone running in the morning should HAVE to wear this many clothes on June 17. However, here is proof, that running in June is just as bad as running in February around here.
