Uncle Dean

Uncle Dean was my favorite uncle. We got a long great, and always looked forward to seeing each other. Our entire family was devastated when he passed away due to health complications sustained from the gas leak that took the life of aunt Ruth a couple years earlier. It just seems so unreal that he's gone, and so sad that Nikki is without a mother, father, or brother.

The pallbearers were friends and family

One of Dean's friends owned a horse drawn carriage, and he was carried to the Fountain Green cemetery in style.

Nikki and her husband Brian rode behind in another horse drawn carriage.

My mom's friends from Castle Dale made the trip over to Fountain Green to show their support.

The Fountain Green cemetery is so beautiful, and so full of many memories for me. Memories that are bitter and sweet.

My grandpa Cook's last living brother, Tommy and his wife were also in attendance. We had to stop for a picture and marvel at the resemblance between he and my grandpa. I couldn't get enough of him.

Back at the church we tried to get a picture with the cook cousins in attendance. Nikki was obviously preoccupied so Dory, myself, Tina, and Doug snapped a quick picture.

Saints Ready

Football is still hard. The pads are heavy and the helmets are sweaty. The plays are hard to remember and the big kids are a little intimidating. But, over all, things are going well.

Carter has had some time to play back up quarterback and has received some praise from his team and from others in the league.

However, sometimes your coach still takes you aside and chews on you for a while.

Football is hard, but Carter is getting better and a lot stronger.

The Dance Show

It happens every year, and each year is better than the one before. Cali and Megan choreographed some great dances, and put on a great production.

The boys got VIP seating on a trailer parked in the road.

Cali provided a lot of the dance outfits, including this little get up.

Neighborhood friends and fund dance partners.

Naya and Noor stopped by to watch just before they moved to Utah the next morning. We will miss these cute girls, and we'll miss all our neighborhood summer fun with fall approaching.

Jozef Comes Home

It was really fun to meet our friend's son Jozef at the airport when he returned from his mission in Mexico. We were pretty much the only people in the Rock Springs airport, so it was great to mingle with others who were there to support him.

Photobombed by Julie.

Jozef's parents, but it looks like I could be their child...

Kindergarten Assessment

The first step to becoming a kindergartener is to take the kindergarten assessment. I can't believe he's already in kindergarten, it seems like some of the days leading up to this point could have dragged on for years, but the years flew by.

Caleb did a great on is assessment and is looking forward to attending the brand new school, Stage Coach Elementary, right in our back yard.

Almost...

Still chasing that sub 2 hour half marathon. This is by far one of the hardest I've ever run. All the way uphill the first half, and then screaming back downhill the second half.
