Cookie-ing

There is no better time to make cookies than on Christmas Eve. All of our neighbor gifts were long delivered, so these cookies were just for us. Caleb did an excellent job rolling the dough in the sugar, I couldn't figure out why his fingers were so sticky, until I realized he was licking them between each roll. Like I said, these cookies were just for us.

Cali is a pro in the kitchen and doesn't really need much help at all, I was happy to sit back and watch her get her bake on.

Carter was not as amused or engaged with the cookie making this year. He got a new book from the book fair, and preferred reading until the cookies were done, and he could eat them.

I did, however, talk him into putting a few of the Hershey Kisses on the chocolate crinkle cookies. I used this opportunity to take some Normal Rockwell inspired look-at-our-perfect family pictures.

Just One of Many Talents

Cali is very talented at many things, wrapping a towel into a giant flower is just one of such things. Whenever she gets out of the shower, we all look forward to her towel creations.

I Need Some Privacy

Sometimes you just need some alone time in a well stocked pantry with a DS. Sometimes you choose not to answer your name when your mother calls it several times, and you hide out here while everyone panics to find you.

Sledding in the Wind, I Mean Snow

You have to be tough to go sledding in Wyoming. First off, the snow only stays snow for a short time before it turns to a ridiculous version of ice. Second, the wind blows so bad that even the exhilaration of sledding down a hill cannot compensate for a wind-chapped face.

Even though it looked nice and sunny, and the snow was still technically snow, the wind beat us to death. We each had to take a turn sitting in the heated car in between turns up and down the hill. My friend Jessy was the mastermind behind this madness and I'm not sure how she talked me into it.

The recap of the event goes like this:
Jessy: Happy and ready to sled in her 40 below zero carhart overalls and gear.
Cammie: Kind of tolerating the idiocy of walking head on into 50 mph wind gusts wilst pulling children on a sled.
Cali: Threw up twice and sat in the car with a barf bowl (she's almost the lucky one)
Carter: Started crying by quickly realized that the tears were instant ice, so he quit crying and started sledding. He made friends with some other crazy children who were also out of the house that morning and quickly horned in on their extra sled.
Caleb: Didn't really realize it was cold, and couldn't figure out why his mother was sick of pulling the sled back up the hill for him.
Hunter: Hanging in there, until he face planted into the snow, and then took a warm up break in the truck.
Parker: Eating treats in the truck
Brock: Cried at the first wind gust, and then promptly fell asleep

Cub Scouts

I'm not the best scout mom of all time, but I did manage to snap a few pictures of Carter's first Pack Meeting (which I have learned is different than the Den Meetings). Thankfully, he has the best leaders in the world who are not only patient with a whole pile of eight year old boys, but also with parents who struggle in the scouting department.

At this meeting Carter earned some patches that I hope someday to sew on to the scout shirt that he now has.

Block Brock

Having Brock and Bethany in our house has added a whole new dimension of fun and craziness. Brock and Caleb are either best friends, or beating on each other. Neither seems to have much middle ground when it comes to love and hate.

It usually goes something like this. Caleb has a toy that Brock wants, so Brock hits Caleb several times. Caleb tries to hold it together, however, he finally snaps and beats Brock down. Or, Brock has a toy that Caleb wants, and in that case Caleb just rips it out of his hands.

So, in an attempt to preemptively stop some of the fighting before it begins, I told Caleb to block Brock. Instead of hitting him first, or hitting him back, he now employs the "Block Brock" technique

Getting Our Hair Did

A picture of me I sent to Christian when he asked if I was almost done with my hair appointment.

Some us-ies of our new hair dos.

I think I'll tone down the blonde a little more next time...
