You have to be tough to go sledding in Wyoming. First off, the snow only stays snow for a short time before it turns to a ridiculous version of ice. Second, the wind blows so bad that even the exhilaration of sledding down a hill cannot compensate for a wind-chapped face.
Even though it looked nice and sunny, and the snow was still technically snow, the wind beat us to death. We each had to take a turn sitting in the heated car in between turns up and down the hill. My friend Jessy was the mastermind behind this madness and I'm not sure how she talked me into it.
The recap of the event goes like this:
Jessy: Happy and ready to sled in her 40 below zero carhart overalls and gear.
Cammie: Kind of tolerating the idiocy of walking head on into 50 mph wind gusts wilst pulling children on a sled.
Cali: Threw up twice and sat in the car with a barf bowl (she's almost the lucky one)
Carter: Started crying by quickly realized that the tears were instant ice, so he quit crying and started sledding. He made friends with some other crazy children who were also out of the house that morning and quickly horned in on their extra sled.
Caleb: Didn't really realize it was cold, and couldn't figure out why his mother was sick of pulling the sled back up the hill for him.
Hunter: Hanging in there, until he face planted into the snow, and then took a warm up break in the truck.
Parker: Eating treats in the truck
Brock: Cried at the first wind gust, and then promptly fell asleep
