Coffee Table=1 Caleb=0

Thank goodness for a nice doctor who makes house calls at 10:00 p.m. after a wild meowzer loses a hard fought battle with the corner of the coffee table.

Winter Blues

I can only handle the wind for so long before I feel like I am going to cry or freak out. This winter was particularly trying in this department. On two occasions, that I can recall, I broke into complete tears while walking through the howling wind. I can't express how maddening the constant wind is.

Also, although me and my kids avoided the worst of the winter sicknesses. Bethany and Brock seemed to catch several different bouts with tummy bugs. Luckily they had Caleb to take care of them.

Cali's Writing Award

Cali received an award for her spectacular writing. She was recognized at a little ceremony, along with other award recipients, at her school.

At parent teacher conference, her teacher was very complimentary about her writing and said that she can always tell Cali's writing apart because of her use of descriptive words.

Jazz Game in the Executive Suite

Christian had tickets to the Jazz game in his company's executive suite. So, after work one evening we high tailed it to SLC for the evening. The game was pretty horrific and hanging with Christian's corporate coworkers was pretty, well... interesting.

They served a taco bar, and the food was ok, I guess I was expecting Yankee Stadium style food, not so. We left after the game was over and made it back to Rock Springs around 1:00 a.m. Thankfully my live-in sister and back-up mother had everything under control and the kids were sound asleep when we got home.

Christian and I really don't see each other all that much, especially during the week, so it was nice to spend time together.

Carter & Mommy Date

I took this handsome little fella' along with me to SLC to get my hair cut and colored. On the way there we listened to the top 20 count down on the radio. Carter was so funny, he waited with great anticipation to hear which song would be number one on the countdown.

While I was getting my hair done, he hung out with Grandpa Carl and Parker in Bountiful. After I was done we headed to Park City for a little shopping where he picked out this fancy hat. I was surprised, as Carter is strictly a baseball cap kind of kid.

I don't think he's actually worn the hat except for that one day, but the other day I heard him tell Caleb that he couldn't wear it. When Caleb started crying and asked why Carter wouldn't let him wear it, Carter said, "because it's special to me, it's from the day that me and mom went to Salt Lake, and I want to have it as a reminder when she passes away." So, there's that.

Cake Auction

Carter's first scout cake auction was a success, thanks to Bethany. Carter showed her a picture of what he wanted his cake to look like, and she took it from there. She made a sample or two, and then it was time for the real thing.

I can only take credit for helping with the frosting, and that resulted in several piping disasters until we finally arrived at a final product.

Carter's troop or group or whatever they are were in charge of the flag ceremony. Thankfully, a kind and patient scout leader picked up a scout shirt for me at the scout store. And, in true first-time scout mom fashion, I got the patches sewn on with minutes to spare.

After the mass produced spaghetti dinner the cake auction began. Christian and I were determined to buy our cake back. Unfortunately we found ourselves in a bidding war with the auctioneers son (a place you never want to be). About $250.00 later we had our cake back, I think it probably cost less than $20.00 to make.

Well, we were already in it to win it, so we bought another cake too. With two very overpriced cakes on our hands we tried to leave the church. Just about that time Carter overheard one of his friends saying that he wished he would have bought Carter's sports cake. So, in the spirit of a true cub scout, Carter gave his cake to his friend.

Not my best time, but a good time with friends!

Valentine's Day

Bethany's cookie making skills combined with Caleb's cookie decorating skills made for an epic Valentine's Day sugar rush.
I was also able to stop by Carter's class for a little V-Day get together, we were happy to be photo bombed by Carter's friend Jalen.

Yellow Belt

There was a lot of kicking, punching, and sound effects, but Carter is now officially a yellow belt!

A Walrus at a Basketball Game

We picked up some Capri Sun's and some granola bars for Cali's post-game snack assignment. I was smart and bought an extra box of Capri Suns which Caleb promptly drank. Then, for the second half of the game we turned into walruses.
