While Christian was gone to New York, the kids and I took a small little vacation of our own. My friends and I had rafted the Provo River the previous month, and I couldn't help but think how much the kids would like to do it. So, one Thursday evening after all the back to school madness, we drove to Park City and stayed at a hotel.
We got up early on Friday morning and met our guide in Provo Canyon for a little rafting adventure.
We had a few minutes to wait before the bus took us to our launch point, so Caleb fashioned a fishing pole out of a stick and a broken life jacket strap.
He then proceeded to "fish". His fishing was a little too close to a very serious fly fisherman who was not at all impressed.
Caleb loved every second of it. So much so that he got pretty annoying about taking a turn and rowing the boat. He tried to commandeer the vestal by jumping on the guide's back and trying to grab the paddles from behind. We could tell the guide was pretty impressed.
Cali showed offer "no hands" quite a bit, and wished that the ride was a little faster and scarier.
Carter was more nervous was very concerned that someone was going to fall out of the boat. After about a half hour, he settled in and enjoyed the guide's knowledge of the wildlife in the area.
FINALLY! He got a chance to row all.by.himself.
It was a beautiful day and it was nice to take some time and enjoy a canyon that we drive so often without stopping or really paying much attention to.
